Close-Up Florals: Collage and Paint!
A Three-Month Immersive Course
April 3 – July 3
On Zoom
Color has a mystical quality. It is pure emotion—something we feel, responding on a deep, instinctual level. From Josef Albers to Wes Anderson, color is continually crowned the main event: the force that defines mood, meaning, and intensity within an image.
In Color Is Queen, we will explore color as both subject and sovereign. Over three months, you’ll enter color through multiple points of access—technical, conceptual, and spiritual—building a rich, embodied understanding of how color functions in your work.
On a technical level, we will engage in a series of color exercises and studies that increase in complexity over time. Working in oil or acrylic paint, we will focus deeply on the art of mixing. Through collage, we’ll experiment freely with color relationships, contrast, harmony, and surprise.
On a conceptual level, we’ll examine the emotive power of specific colors and color families. How does color communicate? How can intentional color choices help your work speak more clearly, more boldly, more truthfully?
On a spiritual level, we’ll slow down and listen. How do we feel color? How do we attune to its vibrations, its energy, its presence?
This course is an invitation to experience color not as an accessory—but as the driving force of your visual language.
